This week saw our MD Robert travel to Dublin (not for high wires & Guinness this time…) for the annual One Young World global summit. The summit brings together the generation’s brightest and most passionate young people to debate and propose solutions to issues of universal concern. Past speakers at the event have included Bob Geldof, Richard Branson & Desmond Tutu.
Almost a year ago, Robert was approached by the founder Kate Robertson to chair a panel discussion on ‘the most successful, young entrepreneurs’ at this year’s summit. After reaching out to lots of bright young things (Leonardo DiCaprio unfortunately had prior commitments), Robert secured a highly esteemed panel including Jay Bregman (Hailo), Julien Callede (Made.com), Tim Davey (OneFineStay) & Michelle Phan (US YouTube sensation). The session was hosted by Barclays CEO Antony Jenkins, who himself is a passionate proponent of youth entrepreneurship.
It was a lively and informative discussion between the panellists, each of whom opened up about their own personal business journeys and the lessons that they had learnt in the process. The session concluded with each panellist offering their most important piece of advice. Robert’s was unsurprisingly related to persistence….well, we all know that is how he secured a meeting with Julian. Some might have called it borderline stalking, but he maintains it was just intelligent persistence!
Robert did himself and the team proud, and hopefully the delegates were able to take away some pearls of wisdom.
